Scan architecture: metadata vs. signatures
Current CleverFiles documentation explicitly distinguishes three scan types: Quick Scan (metadata/filesystem entries, recently deleted files), Deep Scan (File System) (parses low-level metadata such as MFT/inodes, sector-by-sector, reconstructs names/folders when metadata survives), and Deep Scan (File Signatures) (content/signature recovery, no original names/tree, works independently of usable metadata). This is unusually explicit vendor documentation and is reflected accurately below.
EaseUS uses more consumer-facing terms — Quick Scan, a deeper/advanced scan, and RAW recovery — and its current official pages establish that it searches lost filesystem structures, recovers deleted/formatted/lost-partition data, performs deep/raw-level recovery, preserves names/structure where metadata recovery succeeds, and also performs content/file-type recovery. Its public documentation is less technically explicit than CleverFiles about separating metadata-based deep scan from pure signature carving, so this page does not treat "Deep Scan" as an identical, interchangeable feature across both products.

EaseUS's current official pages are internally inconsistent on Linux filesystem depth in places — that ambiguity is kept as "not clearly documented" rather than converted into an unsupported claim.
Lost partition and formatted-filesystem recovery
Both products search for lost partitions and recover from formatted or RAW-labeled drives as a core, well-documented capability — this is one of the areas where the two products genuinely overlap rather than differ.
RAID reconstruction
Current CleverFiles RAID documentation is unusually specific. Disk Drill's automatic reconstruction covers Linux/common RAID (0, 1, 5, 6, 10/1E, JBOD), Btrfs RAID (0, 1, 5, 6, 10, Single), Windows RAID (0, 1, 5, JBOD), and Windows Storage Spaces (simple, two-way mirror, three-way mirror, parity, dual parity). The vendor states plainly that current Disk Drill supports automatic RAID reconstruction only; manual reconstruction is stated to be in development — a real boundary worth knowing before assuming Disk Drill can substitute for a manual RAID tool on an array that won't auto-assemble.
Current EaseUS official documentation states that Data Recovery Wizard performs RAID recovery and markets support for RAID 0/1/5/6/10 and NAS/enterprise arrays, but current documentation reviewed here does not provide a comparable detailed manual-reconstruction interface or parameter model. Marketing language such as "repair damaged RAID" should not be read as a claim of professional manual RAID reconstruction comparable to a dedicated RAID tool.

Remote NAS vs. member-level recovery
This needs the same distinction used elsewhere on this site: remote logical NAS recovery is not the same capability as member-level NAS/storage-stack reconstruction.
Current Disk Drill versions support NAS and Linux recovery via SSH, plus automatic RAID reconstruction (including Btrfs RAID and common Linux RAID layouts) when the member drives are available locally — so Disk Drill now spans both a remote logical NAS workflow and some member-level automatic RAID reconstruction, though manual specialist NAS-stack reconstruction is not documented.
EaseUS's current NAS page is explicit and useful here: it states No Disk Pull-Out and No RAID Reconstruction for that workflow, connecting to a running NAS via SSH and scanning its logical storage remotely. EaseUS also markets RAID recovery separately, but its dedicated NAS feature page is clearly a remote logical recovery workflow, not a member-level one.

Disk imaging
Current Disk Drill 6 Byte-to-byte Backup documentation confirms byte-to-byte imaging, the ability to work from the image instead of the source, and a Smart Multi-Pass Backup mode that skips problematic regions first and retries bad blocks later — designed specifically for damaged or at-risk drives. That's meaningfully more than a simple image creator.
EaseUS has long-standing official disk-image creation — sector-by-sector imaging, opening and scanning an image, imaging part of a drive in older Windows workflows, and Create Image in current Mac documentation — but the modern public documentation reviewed here does not establish a current, sophisticated multi-pass defective-drive imaging engine comparable to Disk Drill 6's Smart Multi-Pass Backup.

"Not confirmed" for EaseUS's multi-pass imaging is appropriate here: an extensive official-source pass found image creation but no current equivalent mechanism, not evidence the feature doesn't exist.
File carving and signatures
Current CleverFiles documentation clearly distinguishes filesystem Deep Scan from signature Deep Scan, and claims 400+ recognized file signatures. Current EaseUS material markets deep/raw recovery and broad file-type recognition but is less explicit about a user-defined signature system. Neither vendor documents a custom-signature editor comparable to PhotoRec, UFS Explorer or R-Studio.

Media fragment recovery vs. repair

Disk Drill's Advanced Camera Recovery targets fragmented photo/video workflows specifically, and Disk Drill 6 documents improved handling of fragmented camera/drone footage. EaseUS's Enhanced Video Recovery and its file-repair functions for damaged MP4/MOV and JPEG/JPG increasingly combine recovery and repair on current product pages. Neither should be summarized as a flat "Video recovery: Yes" — one is fragment reconstruction during recovery, the other can be container repair applied after a file already exists.
Encryption
Current Disk Drill 6 documentation includes BitLocker-encrypted partition support and APFS recovery. Current EaseUS edition-comparison pages explicitly include BitLocker data recovery in the Pro tier. Neither should be read as encryption cracking — both mean accessing supported encrypted volumes with a valid password or recovery credentials.
Safety
Disk Drill promotes an image-first workflow, and Byte-to-byte Backup allows recovery from the image rather than the original. It also ships two optional data-protection features that intentionally write metadata/hard-link state to a protected volume: Recovery Vault and Guaranteed Recovery. These are preventive, pre-loss features, not part of the scan/recovery workflow itself, and shouldn't be scored as a recovery-safety advantage for an already-damaged source — they should not be enabled on a source after data loss has already happened.
EaseUS's Technician product page explicitly describes the recovery software as read-only and states it does not make changes to source data during recovery.
