Software directory
Data recovery software, organized by who actually makes it
Most "best recovery software" lists rank individual products in isolation. This directory is organized the other way: by company. A relatively small group of established vendors makes many of the recovery tools users and technicians commonly encounter, several under more than one brand name aimed at different tiers of user — knowing which company stands behind a tool tells you more than the product name alone.
Some links below are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes which companies we include or how we describe them, and every link goes to the vendor's own official site — never a reseller or mirror. Companies are listed alphabetically, not ranked.
Thirteen vendors
CGSecurity
France
The independent, open-source project behind TestDisk (partition and boot-sector repair) and PhotoRec (file carving) — free tools with no vendor behind them but a single long-time maintainer.
CleverFiles
United States
Developer of Disk Drill, a consumer-facing Mac and Windows recovery app with a limited free tier and a straightforward, non-technical interface.
EaseUS
China
Maker of Data Recovery Wizard, part of a broader EaseUS suite of backup and disk-management software, with both free and paid tiers aimed at everyday users.
Hetman Software
Ukraine
A Ukraine-based vendor with a line of narrowly focused Windows tools — separate products for deletion, formatting, partition loss, and RAID, rather than one do-everything application.
LSoft Technologies
Canada
Developer of the Active@ line of file and partition recovery tools for Windows.
MiniTool Software
Canada / Hong Kong
A recognizable consumer Windows-utility brand; Power Data Recovery covers everyday deleted-file, RAW-drive, formatted and lost-partition cases rather than a specialist recovery architecture.
Ontrack
United States
A historically important recovery brand tracing its business to 1985; EasyRecovery spans a free tier through Technician/Toolkit editions with imaging, RAID and photo/video repair.
Piriform / Gen Digital
United Kingdom / United States
Developer of Recuva, a free, no-frills Windows deletion-recovery tool that's stayed the default first thing to try for a straightforward accidental deletion.
R-Tools Technology
Canada
Maker of R-Studio, a long-running cross-platform recovery tool built around wide file-system support and RAID reconstruction — aimed squarely at technicians rather than casual home use.
Runtime Software
United States (Hawaii)
Publisher of GetDataBack Pro since 2001 — a deliberately read-only, filesystem-reconstruction-oriented recovery tool — alongside RAID Reconstructor, a separate focused RAID 0/5 parameter analyzer rather than a bundled feature.
A vendor with an unusually wide range under one brand — free and consumer editions alongside professional and lab-oriented tools for RAID, virtual disks, and photo/video repair.
SysDev Laboratories
Ukraine
A Ukraine-based developer running three brands at three different tiers — from a budget-friendly consumer tool up to a professional suite used in recovery labs, including this site's own field of work.
Wondershare
China
Large, diversified software company behind Recoverit, a consumer recovery suite known for photo/video recovery-and-repair depth and remote NAS/Linux recovery workflows.
