R-Studio

Maker: R-Tools Technology Platforms: Windows (Mac and Linux builds also available)

R-Studio combines a full standalone recovery product with narrower NTFS/FAT editions and separate Corporate and Technician licensing for network and service workflows. The important distinction is not only feature scope but also where the license may be installed and whether it permits servicing third-party devices.

Prices verified August 2026 directly from the vendor's own order pages, in USD. Software pricing changes without notice — treat the figures below as a starting point and confirm the current price on the official site before buying. The current demo can scan and preview normally and save found files smaller than 1024 KB each.

The distinction that actually matters

R-Studio's base, NTFS, FAT, and Corporate licenses are sold for your own use — not for running a recovery service on other people's drives. Only R-Studio Technician is explicitly licensed for that. If a business is being built around recovering other people's data, this is worth checking directly against the current license terms before relying on a cheaper edition.
