Recoverit's core workflow is select drive/location → scan → preview → recover, aimed at common deleted, formatted and RAW cases. Its genuine differentiators are photo/video recovery-and-repair depth and remote recovery from a reachable NAS or Linux device — not the large file-format counts or recovery-rate figures the vendor emphasizes in its own marketing.

File systems

Current official pages collectively name FAT16/FAT32/exFAT, NTFS, ReFS, HFS+/HFSX, APFS (including encrypted APFS), ext-family, Btrfs, XFS and BFS, with some pages also mentioning JFS. Wondershare's own pages aren't perfectly consistent with each other, and several of those filesystems (ext-family, Btrfs, XFS, BFS) belong to the Linux/NAS recovery workflow specifically rather than a native local scan — treat the Linux-filesystem list as tied to that workflow, not a blanket claim about every scan mode.

Recovery scenarios

Current material covers deleted files, formatted storage, RAW disks, partitions, HDD/SSD, USB/SD/memory cards, crashed computers, NAS, Linux devices, disk-image recovery, BitLocker-protected drives, and photo/video recovery and repair. Vendor material emphasizes Quick/Deep scan and very large supported file-format counts; a "1000+ formats" figure says little on its own about filesystem reconstruction, directory preservation, fragmentation handling, TRIM or RAID geometry, so it isn't used here as a quality metric.

Media recovery and repair

This is a genuine differentiator for Recoverit: current material promotes enhanced photo/video recovery, video-fragment reconstruction and stitching, corrupted-video repair, and photo repair/enhancement. Keep media recovery and file repair separate in your own thinking — repair can fix a damaged file structure but neither recovery nor repair defeats data that's actually been overwritten.

Disk images

Current Windows and free-vs-paid material explicitly documents recovery from disk images. Disk-image input is confirmed; advanced image creation/acquisition tooling for a physically struggling drive is not confirmed from the primary sources reviewed for this listing — don't infer image-creation capability from the phrase "disk image recovery" alone.

NAS

Recoverit documents remote recovery from reachable NAS systems such as Synology, QNAP and Thecus without removing their disks. Linux

Current pages promote Linux recovery for EXT4, Btrfs, XFS and BFS. Treat this as a Linux-device/remote recovery workflow unless native-host documentation says otherwise — it does not establish a native Linux desktop build of Recoverit.

RAID

Wondershare advertises RAID Recovery and lists RAID in its technical material, but the primary pages reviewed for this listing don't provide specialist detail for RAID levels, member order, stripe size, parity rotation, start offsets, missing members, or nested/custom layouts. Classification: RAID recovery is vendor-documented; manual reconstruction depth is not confirmed — a bare "RAID ✓" is misleading on its own.

Encryption

Current official material explicitly documents encrypted APFS/HFS and BitLocker recovery. As with every product on this site, that means unlocking or reconstructing encrypted storage with a valid password, recovery key or other required key material — not cryptographic bypass.

Crashed-computer workflow

Recoverit can create bootable media for a system that doesn't boot normally, which solves an OS-access problem rather than a mechanical drive failure.

Important limitations

Recoverit is a consumer-workflow tool built for a mechanically working drive; a physically failing drive still needs an imaging/lab workflow rather than repeated scan passes. Vendor claims such as recovery-rate percentages, format counts, and device-count figures are not used here as comparison scores — there is no universal recovery percentage across deletion, overwrite, TRIM, corruption, RAID and physical-failure cases.
